Instead, take a few deep breaths and find something to appreciate in the situation. Maybe you have a car that usually works, a flexible boss, or a spouse who can help. Shifting to a mindset of appreciation not only helps you handle the immediate problem better but also builds long-term resilience. To reinforce this habit, share these positive thoughts with someone or write them down later. By focusing on what’s going right, you can transform your outlook and improve your ability to bounce back from difficulties.

2. Optimism vs. Pessimism: Train your brain to see the good in every situation. For instance, when it’s pouring rain and your first thought is "This ruins everything," add a "but" and find a positive twist: "but my lawn will be so green."
